Vintage Report
Argentina's 2021 vintage achieved an excellent score of 92 points according to the Robert Parker index. Although the harvest was irregular, the season resulted in wines with remarkable balance and quality.
The Pinot Noir grape is a rarity in Argentina. This peculiar grape is very fragile in Mendoza, the home of the Luca winery. Only with great care and attention does this grape thrive near the Andes Mountains. The vines (over 20 years old) are planted at an altitude of about one and a half kilometers near the well-known village of Tupungato, Mendoza. At this altitude, the nights are cold. This allows the Pinot Noir grape to develop optimally. The vines are planted in very chalky soil, which only benefits the red wine.
Wood aging for the Luca Pinot Noir
The bottles are only released from the Luca cellars after 12 months of oak aging. 25% of the wine is aged in new oak, while the remaining wine is aged in old French oak. This combination is sublime! The wine has a robustness for a Pinot Noir. The aroma immediately reveals red fruit, such as wild strawberries, along with hints of cherry and raspberry. But the pleasant herbaceous notes are also a delight for the olfactory sense. The taste is magnificent; it has something of a Burgundian Pinot Noir. A wine you won't want to share, but rather want to drink all by yourself. Down to the last drop!Product details
