Vintage Report

The year 2022 was an excellent vintage for South Africa with a score of 92. The wines from this year are characterized by high quality and a youthful, vibrant character.
The vines for this Bad Brothers Wit are planted on the fourteen-year-old vineyard of the Goedverwacht winery. The Chenin Blanc grapes are given ample time to ripen, and the loamy soil allows them to develop unique characteristics. The vineyards face east-west and enjoy a perfect climate, resulting in wonderfully fresh and fruity grapes.

Distinctive Goedverwacht wines

The Goedverwacht winery has been in the Du Toit family for three generations. Today, the family owns 180 hectares of vineyards with a diverse range of terroirs, soil types, and microclimates. This makes the wines distinctive and exceptionally elegant. The vineyards are located in the Breede River Valley in the Robertson district, near Cape Town. The warm and dry climate makes it ideal for viticulture. Together with winemaker Christiaan van Tonder, the Du Toits strive to produce wines of the highest quality that are appreciated, shared, and discussed by wine lovers worldwide. Daytime warmth alternates with cold nights, allowing the Chenin Blanc grapes to ripen exceptionally well. Their development is closely monitored, allowing the winemaker to know precisely when the grapes are ripe enough for harvest. Then, at optimal ripeness, the grapes are harvested mechanically at night. In the winery, they are destemmed and crushed, after which only the clear juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine is destemmed, stabilized, and finally bottled.

What does Bad Brothers white taste like?
