The 2022 vintage in Catalonia was excellent, scoring 93 on the reference charts. The wines from this year are described as powerful, youthful, and still very much in development.

This wine is made entirely from the Garnatxa Blanca grape. It's a powerful white wine produced in a very special way. The grapes are pressed immediately after harvest, resulting in a powerful wine.

The rich history of the Pinord winery

To find out how the Pinord adventure began, we have to go back at least 150 years. In 1942, a vineyard near Villafranca del Penedes was purchased, and the story of the Pinord winery began. The company has always been led by the Tetas family, and today two generations are dedicated to producing the renowned Pinord wines. Many of the wines are made from indigenous grape varieties and vinified using traditional methods. Innovation and experimentation are also key elements within the winery. They now also own vineyards in other wine regions, such as Montasant and Priorat. After the grapes are harvested, they are immediately taken to the winery where they are quickly pressed to extract the must, preserving as much of the concentration as possible. The must is fermented at low temperatures for about three weeks to extract and preserve varietal expression. The wine then remains on its lees for another two months. Thirty percent of the wine is aged in oak for several months.

A powerful white wine from Pinord

The result is a clear wine with intense fruity aromas of banana and apple, along with notes of lemon, dried fruit, and nuts. Typical of the Grenache grape variety, it's a powerful white wine. Well-structured with an optimal balance of acidity and body. It also finishes with a very long and pleasant finish. Delicious with fish dishes, salads, pizzas, or simply on a sunny summer terrace, for example.
