This Poley Palo Cortado is the result of exceptional craftsmanship from the Toro Albala winery. Specific barrels were used, resulting in a unique wine profile. After extensive aging, a wide variety of aromas and the necessary complexity emerge. It is a unique piece of work that has consistently won awards.

The beginning of Bodegas Toro Albala

Production is handled by Bodegas Toro Albala. This winery is located in the Montilla Moriles region in the south of sun-drenched Spain. Jose Maria Toro Albala founded the eponymous winery in 1922. But its history goes back further to 1844, when Albala's grandfather, Antonio Sanchez Prieto, began making wine. He was the first winemaker to release Pedro Ximenez as a single varietal. And this grape remains the foundation for most of the range today. The grapes for the Marquis de Poley Palo Cortado are given ample time to develop and are only harvested at peak ripeness. This wine is then aged in a solera system, where the barrels are stacked on top of each other and the wine is gradually transferred to the barrels below. This is a very old wine, aged in American oak barrels for at least 25 years.

The powerful aromas of Palo Cortado Luxury Collection 1964

It's a full-bodied wine with strong aromas of tobacco, wood, and spices, complemented by delicate bakery aromas and slightly smoky notes. The palate is dry and exceptionally full, again with powerful oak aromas. An intense, yet elegant wine. It's a special wine not intended for the masses, as its unique style might seem a bit too aggressive to some. This Sherry pairs perfectly with meat dishes, oily fish, or stews.
