Vintage Report
The 2022 vintage for Pinot Noir from the Central Coast received a rating of 92 points from Robert Parker. This indicates an excellent wine that is early maturing and highly approachable.
Bernardus Pinot Noir, a textbook example of a fine Pinot Noir wine. The grapes for this Bernardus Pinot Noir come from the Santa Lucia Highlands. This is a perfect area for Pinot Noir to grow in complete tranquility. The combination of abundant sunshine and the afternoon breeze that blows across the vineyards is a formula for the perfect maturation of the Pinot Noir. The grapes for Bernardus Pinot Noir are all hand-picked, ensuring only the finest fruit is pressed. After vinification, the wine is aged for 10 months in French oak barrels, giving it its unique character.
The old Pinot Noir vineyard
The Bernardus Winery is one of our favorite wineries. This winery is primarily known for its beautiful Chardonnay, but it also produces many other gems. Bernardus was founded by Ben Pon, who previously made a name for himself by importing prestigious car brands. Ben, a bon vivant, wanted to establish his own winery and focus on premium wines. And he succeeded. Every single one of their wines is a gem, including this magnificent Bernardus Pinot Noir. What does Bernardus Pinot Noir taste like?
This Pinot Noir Bernardus is best served at around 14 to 15 degrees Celsius. This allows all its aromas and flavors to fully develop. Upon pouring, the Pinot Noir's characteristic bright purple color is immediately apparent. The aroma is a true feast. Pleasant aromas of ripe black cherries, berries, vanilla, and some floral notes. The taste is elegant and classic. Delicious nuances of ripe red and black fruit alternate with vanilla and a touch of spice. The finish is sultry and even refreshing. What a gem!Product details
