We were incredibly curious when we received all the points for this wine, as it received 92 points from James Suckling, 91 points from Decanter, and 90 points from Wine Spectator. Well, we give this Amarone Della Valpolicella 100 points because it's fantastic! But let's start with the long history of this winery, as it's already the fourth generation of the Tessari family at the helm of this fantastic winery. The family name is well-known in the region, stealing the show with their finest wines. All wines are made with great love, respect for nature, and preserving ancient Italian winemaking traditions. The winery itself takes its name from the famous Rugate hill, as this beautiful hill is home to the winery and many vineyards.

For this top-quality wine, the Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes are grown on very old vines. Simply the best vineyards nourish this Amarone della Valpolicella. What makes this wine so special? Well, we'll try to explain it to you. When the grapes are ripe, they are harvested entirely by hand and placed in small crates. Only the best bunches are picked to ensure purity. After harvesting, all the bunches are placed in beds—yes, you read that right. The beds are placed in drying houses, and all the bunches are allowed to dry undisturbed. The drying period lasts about four to five months, during which the bunches lose a large portion of their moisture. But the juice that remains in the grapes is truly phenomenal. Once the dried grapes are pressed, the black juice is aged for another thirty months in oak barrels. The result is a truly unique glass.

It begins the moment you open the bottle, because as soon as the cork is removed, a beautiful aroma of ripe blueberries, blackberries, cherries, and especially spicy notes with just the right amount of oak bursts forth. Pouring reveals a garnet red color with purple highlights. It smells of ripe black fruit such as cherries, blackberries, and blueberries. Swirl the glass vigorously to release all the aromas, including dark chocolate, vanilla, and a touch of spice. A rich, full flavor with a complex character. Beautifully balanced with abundant aromas of black fruit, spices, vanilla, and oak. The long and smooth finish completes the experience.
