We love Terres Quero Torrontes, a wine that's quintessentially Argentinian. For those not so thrill-seeking, you can always turn to Terres Quero Chardonnay. The trusted quality of a Chardonnay with a spirited Argentinian twist.

Argentina. Who doesn't love it? Since our former Crown Prince ran off with a beautiful Argentinean, we in the Netherlands can no longer ignore Argentina either. But besides future queens, Argentina has even more to offer: wine! Along with Chile, it plays a key role in South American wine. Argentine wines are mainly found in the far west of the country, at the foot of the mighty Andes, a gigantic mountain range that forms a natural border with Chile. Anyone who truly wants to discover the heart of Argentine wine is better off traveling to Mendoza, a fairly large provincial city that fills the heart of the wine scene. A short distance from here, we also find the impressive Terres Quero winery; a winery we've fallen in love with.

The wines of Terres Quero

Mendoza is the heart of Argentine viticulture. Numerous renowned winemakers hail from this region. One of the most beautiful subregions is Valle de Uco, also home to Terres Quero. The Andes are the main reason for the success of viticulture here. It can get quite hot in this part of Argentina. However, the altitude of the Andes, coupled with the associated meltwater, means that the Terres Quero vineyards can cool down considerably, especially at night. This creates a perfect growing climate where Terres Quero's fine grapes thrive.

Order Terres Quero wine

Anyone strolling through the vineyards of Terres Quero will immediately recognize an Argentine vineyard. The plantings can easily be traced back to this South American country. Besides Chardonnay and Viognier, we encounter two grape varieties that have practically become ambassadors of Argentine wines. We are, of course, talking about Torrontes and Malbec. The latter has achieved near-iconic status among wine connoisseurs worldwide. It's no wonder that Terres Quero Malbec is such a success story.
A unique collaboration is how we describe Terres Quero winery. It was head winemaker Bruno Kessler who forged a unique partnership with Los Helechos winery. Los Helechos is no stranger to Argentine viticulture. The winery is highly regarded and produces several top wines from local Mendoza grape varieties. Both men traveled to Argentina to select vineyards for their new project, Terres Quero. They found their happiness in the Terres Quero (Land to Love) vineyards in the Uco Valley.

The enormous height of the vineyard

The label features the Sol de Mayo logo, the national symbol of the Argentine people's independence. This white Chardonnay was also created with this in mind. With love and passion, the Chardonnay bunches are matured at an altitude of 1,100 meters. This results in a relatively cool climate with plenty of sunshine, but also considerable chills from the winds off the Andes and the sharply falling nighttime temperatures. This allows the Chardonnay bunches to grow slowly and evenly, allowing them to draw abundant nutrients from the Argentine soil.

The aroma and taste of the Terres Quero Chardonnay

Upon opening the bottle, we smell the aromas of tropical fruit, interspersed with a swarm of citrus and mint. In the glass, this Terres Quero Chardonnay glows light yellow with a golden sheen. Beautiful aromas of pineapple, mango, and passion fruit are complemented by vanilla and licorice. On the palate, this white wine transports you to Argentina. The palate reveals beautiful, full-bodied flavors of the Chardonnay grape, including mango and other tropical fruits. On the palate, nuances of yellow fruit like apricots and peaches develop, complemented by a very long and ripe finish.
In central Argentina, specifically in Uco Valley, lie the Terres Quero vineyards. These vineyards, called Terres Quero (Land to Love), are situated at an altitude of 1,100 meters above sea level. The vineyards and the winery were acquired through a unique collaboration between head winemaker Bruno Kessler and the winemaker of the world-renowned Los Helechos winery. Los Helechos has been producing Argentina's finest wines for years and was open to a unique project. Both men went on a quest and found great happiness with the current vineyards. These old, thick trunks were initially nurtured, resulting in a sharp increase in the quality of the harvest. Today, we can enjoy a Malbec of unparalleled quality.

Made with pure passion

The label features the Sol de Mayo logo, the national symbol of the Argentine people's independence. With Sol de Mayo in mind, they create this red Malbec wine. The old, thick trunks yield a unique harvest and enjoy the perfect climate. Plenty of sunshine allows the Malbec grapes to ripen easily, along with plenty of refreshing breezes. But that's not all, as nighttime temperatures are very low in the vineyards, causing the harvest to cool completely during the night. This gives the bunches more strength and refinement, which we taste in this red wine. When the Malbec bunches are ripe, they are harvested early in the morning and transported to Terres Quero. Here, they are gently pressed and aged in French oak barrels.

Full and very powerful this Terres Quero Malbec

Terres Quero Malbec, sit back and enjoy, because this is a top-notch wine! Pouring it reveals a beautiful deep purple color with a reddish sheen. Its aroma is intense, bringing to mind notes of fresh black fruit with hints of vanilla and spice. Give this red wine a good swirl in the glass; we also noted hints of chocolate and cinnamon. On the palate, it leaves the tongue with a very pleasant sensation of blackberry and cherry. A touch of laurel accompanies a touch of pepper and chocolate. The finish is long and very balanced until the very last sip.
