The origins of this magnificent winery date back to 1936, and since then, a great deal of effort has been devoted to developing the finest wines. Currently, the third generation is at the helm, and they too are successfully positioning Costaripa further in the market. They also keep an eye on the future for future generations. Because Costaripa uses highly advanced methods and respects nature, there will be sufficient raw materials for producing beautiful wines for many generations to come. The architecture of the winery, visible from the shores of Lake Garda, reflects the design of the surrounding land, and the natural materials blend seamlessly into the landscape, creating a seamless impression of total harmony. Costaripa is available in red, white, and rosé.
What a full-bodied and powerful white wine, this Pievecroce from northern Italy. The Costaripa winery, located in Lombardy, produces this white wine in the Lugana wine region. It's a region known for its full-bodied white wines, and we couldn't agree more. The old vines, filled with Trebbiano di Lugana, are decades old and provide the winery with a full harvest. But that doesn't happen by itself, as the Costaripa winemaker explains. A lot of work is done in the vineyards, and the vines don't lack anything. The vineyard is located near Lake Garda, and that has an impact on the grapes. The fresh wind slows the grapes' growth and ensures a balanced season. Summer days in Lugana can be very warm, and the bunches seek coolness, which they find in the breeze from Lake Garda.

The harvest of the Costaripa Pievecroce Lugana

All of Costaripa's staff is assembled just as the harvest begins in mid-September. This is when the Lugana bunches are at their ideal ripeness, and they are harvested early in the morning. Harvesting in the morning is crucial to preserve the freshness of the grapes and to prevent excessive crushing of the Lugana grapes during transport to Costaripa. Upon arrival, the grapes are pressed, followed by thirty-five percent oak aging. This gives this white Pievecroce its strength and suppleness, which is clearly noticeable in the aroma and flavor.

The aroma and taste of the Pievecroce Lugana

When pouring this white Costaripa, the golden color immediately catches your eye, along with a beautiful, thick structure and a green sheen. The party has begun, and this Lugana's aroma reflects this: very powerful with nuances of pear, ripe apple, and apricot. But if you take a closer look after swirling the glass, you'll also discover notes of elderflower and a touch of smoke. Once the wine is in your mouth, you'll clearly notice its full structure, ripe exotic fruit notes, and invigorating hints of citrus and apple. The finish is very powerful and full, displaying all the beautiful qualities of a top-class Lugana.
A very special bottle of rosé from Italy, this Costaripa RosaMara. The beautiful Costaripa winery uses four grape varieties for this rosé: Sangiovese, Barbera, Marzemino, and Groppelo. All originate from the Lombardy wine region of northern Italy. The old vineyards are situated in a unique location near Lake Garda. The warm summers with high temperatures are good for the grapes, but they also need coolness to mature smoothly. The grapes receive this coolness from the wind blowing off Lake Garda. This coolness protects the grapes during the day from the bright sunny days of summer. But the grapes also cool down at night because the vineyard is situated at a higher elevation. All in all, a quiet and peaceful growing season, perfect for a rosé like this Costaripa RosaMara.

The harvest of the Costaripa Rosé

Very early in the morning, around mid-September, the grapes for this rosé are harvested by hand. The early harvest is crucial to preserve the freshness of this wine and also to prevent the grapes from being crushed during transport to the Costaripa press. As the winemaker says, "when the grapes are dormant is the best time to harvest." Once all four grape varieties have been harvested, they are combined, and the skins ferment for just 20 minutes. This is when Costaripa acquires its beautiful light pink color, similar to Provence.

The scent and taste of the Costaripa RosaMara

The color is fantastic and immediately makes us want to smell this rosé. The aroma offers lovely hints of red fruit like strawberry and raspberry, not to mention cherries and pomegranate. The taste is truly sensational, full and harmonious. Lots of red fruit notes, a lovely structure, and a hint of almond bitterness. A perfect, long finish.
This red wine is made from the Marzemino grape, something you don't see very often anymore. It's a shame, really, because the grape has very beautiful qualities and grows primarily around Lake Garda in Italy. The old vines of Costaripa are also located in this area, Lombardia. Although the region is better known for its white and sparkling wines, we're happy to say we've discovered a red variety. The old vineyard, which has been performing well for decades, produces full, powerful bunches of the Marzemino grape. These thrive in the warm climate, but also receive sufficient cooling from the wind blowing off Lake Garda. This allows for a long and uneventful growing season, allowing the grapes to fully develop.

Completely hand-harvested for this Costaripa Mazane

In early September, Costaripa begins the harvest of the red Marzemino grape. Everything is harvested by hand and selected bunch by bunch to retain only the finest. These are transported in small crates to the Costaripa press where they undergo a short, slow pressing. The dark juice is of phenomenal quality, and the winemaker calls it a kind of "Barolo" from Lombardy. We agree, and this eliminates the need for aging in wooden barrels. The wine is simply the finest it can be.

What does the Costaripa Mazane taste like?

Upon pouring, the wine immediately reveals its dark red color and offers beautiful aromas. We noted notes of strawberries and amarena cherries, a hint of pepper, and some ripe plums. The palate is soft and refined with a wonderfully harmonious style. Hints of black fruit, light spices, some strawberries, plums, and chocolate. On the back of the palate, this Costaripa Mazane also offers nuances of cocoa, cinnamon, and other sweet spices. A beautiful wine, and perhaps enjoy it slightly chilled, as this red wine deserves!
A unique Brut Rosé from sun-drenched Italy. The beautiful winery overlooks the Brescian shores of Lake Garda. Mattia Vezzola founded the winery with precise objectives. He opened his own winery and focused entirely on the quality of the products from this region. Everything revolved around quality wines. And this passion was lovingly passed on to the next generations. These successive generations dedicated their lives to a single goal. Today, the winery is run by the third generation, who currently own 55 hectares of vineyards planted with the finest and highest-quality grape varieties.

This Brut Rosé is made from 80 percent Chardonnay and 20 percent Pinot Nero grapes, both grown in the limestone and clay regions of Lake Garda and Iseo. When the grapes reach peak ripeness, they are carefully harvested and taken directly to the winery. A gentle pressing follows, followed by fermentation. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels, after which the wine is allowed to mature on its own lees.

Enjoy the fresh Mattia Vezzola Brut rose Costaripa

With a soft, light pink color, the Mattia Vezzola Brut Rosé Costaripa appears in the glass.
