Thanks to the craftsmanship that evolved in Bordeaux, we can now enjoy delicious wines. But there's more, much more. Head a little further south and you'll find Bergerac. A wine region where, for example, Château Belingard has been the king for three centuries.

Bergerac wines from France

Château Belingard is located in the Bergerac region. This relatively unknown wine region is situated in the Dordogne Valley. It is sometimes affectionately called the little brother of the great Bordeaux. Although Bergerac didn't nearly have the quality of Bordeaux, the difference has narrowed over the years. The top wines from Bergerac can now compete with some wines from the Bordeaux region.

French wines from Chateau Belingard

When you taste the wines of Château Belingard, it's hard to tell the difference from Bordeaux. This is partly due to the craftsmanship that has been cultivated in the Bergerac vineyards for years. Château Belingard was founded in the early 19th century by the De Bosredon family. As the years passed and the generations passed, the winery expanded. Château Belingard is still owned by a Bosredon descendant, Laurent de Bosredon.

The wines of Chateau Belingard

The comparison with Bordeaux is easy to make when you visit the vineyards of Château Belingard. Many grape varieties also grown further north thrive here. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, of course, but also white grape varieties like Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon thrive in the Dordogne.

Order Chateau Belingard

The wines of Chateau Belingard are well worth trying. Their white wines are particularly delicious. My personal favorite is Chateau Belingard Reserve Bergerac Sec, which is aged extensively in the bottle before leaving the cellar. A rich white wine that puts other French top wines to shame.
On the banks of the Dordogne River lies the town of Bergerac. The De Bosredon family has been working this land for over two hundred years. They use various grape varieties, including Sauvignon, Semillon, and Muscadelle for their white wines, and Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec for their reds. Today, Laurent is at the helm, combining age-old traditions with the latest techniques to produce exquisite wines. The wines are balanced, fresh, and all full of character.

For this Reserve wine, only the finest grapes from the vineyard are selected. After careful harvesting, the grapes are transported to the winery, where they undergo an eight-hour cold maceration. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. Wooden barrels are deliberately avoided, as the oak notes would quickly become too dominant. Finally, the young wine is aged in tanks for several months to achieve greater complexity.

The aromas of Chateau Belingard Reserve Bergerac Sec

And it certainly succeeded. In the glass, this Reserve Bergerac Sec emerges with a brilliant straw-yellow color. It boasts beautiful aromas of peach and apricot, complemented by a hint of vanilla. It's very pleasant on the palate, refined and creamy, with a pleasant peach and vanilla texture. The fruity flavor is beautifully balanced with a pleasant acidity. The finish is creamy and lingering, quickly drawing you to another sip. This white wine pairs well with traditional fish dishes or a spicy Asian dish.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0594/9358/0879/files/chateau-belingard-reserve-bergerac-sec_12989.webp?v=1770371111
chateau-belingard-bergerac-wit
Chateau Belingard Bergerac White
A wonderfully fresh and dry white cuvée with the floral aroma of Muscadelle and intense flavors of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc.
