Cavallotto is one of Barolo's oldest producers, with a traditional, terroir-focused winemaking style. The diverse terroirs of the Bricco Boschis, Vignolo, and San Giuseppe crus, among others, are beautifully expressed in their Nebbiolo wines. Besides Nebbiolo, Cavallotto produces a stunning Barbera d'Alba Superiore and a powerful Burgundy-style Chardonnay. The village of Castiglione Falletto is steeped in wine history. It is named after the Marquis and Marchioness of Barolo, Carlo Tancredi Falletti and Julia (Giulia) Falletti. Julia, a Frenchman, met Carlo Tancredi in Paris in 1807 and moved with him to Piedmont. She was a good friend of an oenologist from the Champagne region named Louis Oudart, with whom she often philosophized about wine and winemaking. She eventually purchased 23 hectares of vineyards on a hill called Monte della Guardia, planted with Nebbiolo. This hill is now known as Cru Bricco Boschis, named after Giuseppe Boschis, who took over the vineyards from the Marquise. It was precisely here that the foundation was laid for Barolo as we know it today.
What a magnificent wine, this red Cavallotto Langhe Nebbiolo! This Nebbiolo comes from Barolo vineyards, usually the youngest vines. The Cavallotto family winery is located on the famous Bricco Boschis hill near Castiglione Falletto. The vineyard's quality was recognized and acted upon as early as the 1970s. The vineyard is farmed exclusively organically with complete respect for nature. In the cellar, the traditional style is pursued to produce expressive, ageable wines.

The Italian family business Cavallotto

The farm, officially established in 1928, along with the vineyards and winery, forms the beating heart of the Cavallotto family's work. The family personally oversees all winemaking activities, from the vineyards to the cellars. The 23 planted hectares of the family farm have a much longer history, dating back to the 18th century. In 1946, the grandchildren joined the family business, taking over the entire production of the estate, including vinification for sale. They managed to elevate the winery to an even higher level, something we can still be grateful for today. What fantastic wines we have in our range, thanks to Cavallotto.

Langhe Nebbiolo is made with Nebbiolo grapes from Bricco Boschis, Vignolo, Codana, and Pernanno. The wine is fermented with indigenous yeast. The skins that rise to the surface are regularly immersed, and the juice is pumped over regularly. The wine is aged for 15 to 18 months in Slavonian oak barrels. The wine remains in the bottle for an additional six months before release.

The typical aromas of the Langhe Nebbiolo

Excellent structure with typical Bricco Boschis aromas of red fruit and flowers, along with herbs, all open and intense. Excellent aging potential! This red wine pairs wonderfully with, for example, sliced meat appetizers like prosciutto or salami, but also with beef tartare and vitello tonnato. This Cavallotto Langhe Nebbiolo is also delicious with pasta, simple red meat dishes, or seasoned cheeses.
The Barbera grapes come from the 'Vigna del Cuculo' vineyard near Castiglione Falletto in the Langhe region. These richly structured wines emphasize elegance and longevity, thanks to excellent vineyards in the Bricco Boschis and Vignolo crus and traditional long aging periods in large Slavonian oak barrels. Alfio, Giuseppe, and Laura Cavallotto successfully continue the family tradition that began five generations ago, applying meticulous skill from grape to bottle.

After harvest, the Barbera grapes are rigorously inspected and selected.
