Melissa is located directly south of Ciro, also on the Ionian Sea coast. The majority of the production, namely ninety percent, is red. The white version is therefore quite rare here. This wine has been given the name Asylia, which was formerly the name for the town of Melissa and meant \"asylum,\" a hospitable and safe place for travelers. In tribute, the winery named the wine after it. The grapes are planted in beautiful, poor soils of limestone and clay. After the harvest in September, it undergoes fermentation in stainless steel at a low temperature.
