In the early 1990s, the winery acquired additional vineyards and replanted them to a very high standard. Only the finest vines were considered for these vineyards. Today, the vineyards are well-aged and produce exceptionally good grapes. The vines are planted at the foot of the hills, ensuring the grapes receive ample sunshine and sufficient coolness for a wonderfully fresh wine. Throughout the growing season, all the grapes are carefully monitored and meticulously cared for. Nothing is too good for these little gems on the vines. When the Merlot grapes are perfectly ripe, the harvest begins very early in the morning. Under the winemaker's strict supervision, all the bunches are transported in small crates to the winery so that pressing can begin. Mr. Guigal uses three grape varieties: Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvedre, sourced from a 35-year-old vineyard. This vineyard has a considerable age and produces thick, firm bunches. The Nero d'Avola grapes, sourced from vines between three and ten years old, are ideally positioned to maximize the sun's rays. Thanks to Sicily's warm climate, the grapes ripen at a leisurely pace, contributing to their deep flavors. This grape is one of the most widely grown varieties in Sicily. By harvesting the grapes slightly earlier than usual, they retain their rich depth, which is clearly evident in the wine.

Tasting notes of the Campo di Marzo Nero d'Avola

Pouring this wine is an experience in itself, with its vibrant purple-red hue and enticing aromas. The nose is treated to pleasant notes of blackberry, blueberry, and a hint of licorice. On the palate, this wine is rich and powerful, yet finishes with a velvety smooth finish. Flavors of dark fruit, spice, and a hint of caramel define this wine. They began by planting 22 hectares of new vineyards. This site had never been vine-grown before, making the risk of viruses very low. They planted a beautiful variety of grapes: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Viognier, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah, and Malbec. The vineyards are situated 350 meters above sea level and just a stone's throw from the Atlantic Ocean. The ideal soil combined with the fresh sea breeze provides perfect conditions for viticulture. After extensive preparation and the preparation of the cellar, the duo was ready for the first harvest in 2007. Since then, Creation Wines has been making a real breakthrough. This is one of the most famous wine regions in all of Spain. At an altitude of over 500 meters above sea level, we find the vineyards growing the Tempranillo grape for this red wine. Planted facing the sun, they allow the grapes to absorb as much warmth and sunlight as possible. Because the nighttime temperature drops significantly, these grapes receive a natural cooling effect, ensuring a steady ripening process. Without this cooling effect, the Tempranillo grapes would ripen far too quickly, rendering them unusable. Organic viticulture requires a great deal of work in the vineyards, from soil maintenance to pruning. Once the grapes have reached their optimal ripeness, the manual harvest begins. Founded by the visionary Dopff family, this winery has preserved its heritage and traditions through the centuries, making it one of the most respected and oldest family wineries in the world. As a true ambassador of Alsace, Dopff Au Moulin has developed unparalleled expertise in viticulture. Around 1900, Julien Dopff revolutionized the wine world by producing the very first Alsace sparkling wine using the "methode traditionelle," inspired by his experiences in Reims (Champagne). This innovation led to the birth of what we now know as "Crémant d'Alsace." Furthermore, Dopff Au Moulin introduced the signature tall, slender bottle that is now synonymous with Alsace wines. Their red Pinot Noir, housed in this iconic bottle, is one of the jewels of their range.

Dopff Au Moulin's Signature: The Red Alsace Wine

Located in picturesque Riquewihr, Dopff Au Moulin is now passionately run by Pierre-Etienne Dopff and Etienne-Arnaud Dopff. This duo has a deep knowledge of Alsace and its unique terroir. While Dopff Au Moulin is proud of its own extensive vineyards full of Pinot Noir, they also value the close ties with winegrower friends, who are considered extensions of their family. These collaborations, which often span generations, contribute to the exclusivity of their Pinot Noir, a wine available only in limited quantities.

Tasting notes: Dopff Au Moulin Rouge des 2 Deux Cerfs

Pinot Noir grapes, nurtured by ancient vines and the ideal Alsace climate, form the basis for a red wine reminiscent of a refined Burgundy. This is what made the winery so successful, starting in 1860, just after the French Bourbon dynasty. Mr. Vito Curatolo Arini initially sold his grapes to other wineries but then went into business for himself. He founded the winery in his hometown of Marsala to produce the finest Marsala wines. And he succeeded, as the Marsala wines are highly sought after. But that's not the only reason people are so in love with them; they also produce exquisite wines under the Borgo Selene label. This red is also very popular on the island and boasts a warm and refined character.

The harvest of the Nerello Mascalese and Nero d'Avola grapes

The vineyards for this red Borgo Selene are filled with Nerello Mascalese and Nero d'Avola grapes. They are located in two different locations: one near Marsala and the other in the Salemi region. This allows the winemaker to achieve greater diversity in this red wine, and we can certainly taste the difference. The vines are planted in limestone and gravel soil, giving them deep and strong roots. This allows them to easily draw moisture and nutrients from the soil, which is essential during the warm summers. The fresh sea breeze contributes to the freshness and even harvest of this red wine. Craftsmanship and experience are paramount with Farina Bardolino Classico. And that's not surprising. The Farina winery was founded in the early 19th century. Over the years, they have evolved from a small winery into one of the major producers in Italy's Veneto wine region. Farina remains the oldest family-owned winery in this region to this day. Thanks to all the investments, innovations, experience, and expertise, Farina Bardolino Classico has become a favorite among wine lovers.

A great Italian trio from Farina

Farina Bardolino Classico is a superb glass of wine. Italian through and through! Three indigenous grape varieties contribute to this sublime result. First, Corvina, which provides softness, juiciness, and fine tannins. Then, Molinara, not particularly spectacular on its own, but in various blends, it adds the necessary freshness. Finally, Rondinella is used, which provides characteristic cherry aromas. These three grape varieties also form the basis of the king of northern Italy, Amarone.

Impressions of Farina Bardolino Classico

Dazzling. The Corvina, Molinara, and Rondinella, all three indigenous grape varieties, deliver excellent results in this Farina Bardolino Classico. The grapes grow near Lake Garda, in the Moreniche Mountains. Otherwise, it wouldn't be called Bardolino Classico. The wine hasn't been aged in oak, which makes the Farina Bardolino Classico delightfully fresh and approachable. The aroma alone makes us fall in love with this red wine. Warm and sultry. Red fruit, black fruit, and herbs. You smell everything. Take a sip, and the wine is just right. Fruit forms the foundation of the flavor palette, but a tingle on the tongue reveals the herbaceous notes. A touch of bitterness provides chocolate notes. This Australian wine has everything it takes to become your new favorite.

Australian Pinot Noir

Deakin Estate is no stranger to winemaking. For decades, this Australian winery has been growing grapes on its vineyards. Initially, these grapes were sold, but since the 1980s, Deakin Estate has also been experimenting with winemaking. Classic Australian grapes like Chardonnay and Shiraz are always a guarantee for success. Pinot Noir, on the other hand, is somewhat more challenging to grow, particularly due to the extreme temperatures experienced in Victoria, the province where the winery is located. The vineyards for Pinot Noir are located near Mildura, near the mighty Murray River, ensuring the grapes have access to ample water. Harvesting is done by hand, and after pressing, this Deakin Estate Pinot Noir is aged for several months in oak barrels. This way, Deakin has succeeded in producing a high-quality Pinot Noir that will make your mouth water.

What does the Deakin Estate Pinot Noir taste like?

The aroma is a true sensation. The oak aging also lends complex aromas. Think pepper, a hint of cinnamon, and nuances of vanilla. Your nose constantly encounters new scents. Exciting and curious. The flavor is surprisingly powerful. Your taste buds are tickled by notes of black cherries, red berries, caramel, and coffee. Despite its astonishing power, the wine remains pleasantly drinkable. The flavor is best enjoyed slightly chilled, between 12 and 16 degrees Celsius. Deakin Pinot Noir is a gem from this phenomenal winery.
