This Riesling Federspiel, for example, comes from one of Austria's most beautiful wine regions.

Old Riesling vines at 1000 Eimerberg

Today, the seventh generation is at the helm. Tradition and traditional knowledge go hand in hand here. The soil structure, in particular, is unique and is evident in every Gritsch wine. The 1000-Eimerberg vineyard, also considered a Spitz landmark, has a slope of up to 50 percent. Working here requires practically mountaineering skills. It's pure production work. The old Riesling vines of our 1000-Eimerberg produce wines with light fruit and crisp acidity; they are stylish and robust. Hints of citrus and a wonderful minerality are characteristic of Gritsch Rieslings. The riper the vintage, the more exotic aromas such as passion fruit and pineapple are developed.

The elegant Riesling grapes are harvested exclusively by hand at peak ripeness, without the aid of heavy harvesting machinery. The grapes are then transported almost immediately to the winery. Here, they are hand-selected and carefully separated. For a long time, this grape was synonymous with flat, dull wines, but thanks to the efforts of wineries like Gritsch, it has acquired the necessary complexity and intensity.

Gritsch Winery is no ordinary winery. Its history dates back to the 13th century, when local monks sourced their grapes from here. At the end of the 18th century, in 1799, the Gritsch family came into the picture and became the owners of the estate. The Gritsch family still manages the day-to-day operations. Franz-Josef represents the seventh generation and maintains the same vision as his ancestors: striving for the very best Wachau quality.

Impressions of Gritsch Gruner Veltliner Federspiel Kirchpoint

Gruner Veltliner grows on the most impressive vineyards of the Wachau region. It truly flourishes on the banks of the mighty Danube. Remarkably, the grapes for Gritsch Gruner Veltliner Federspiel Kirchpoint are harvested annually on October 1st. This may seem late, but it's precisely then that the grapes reach their fullness and juiciness. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, but the juice then matures for a while on its own lees, giving the wine the necessary depth.

Depth reigns supreme in Gritsch Gruner Veltliner Federspiel Kirchpoint. Plenty of fresh fruit, including firm pear and yellow apple, is on display. But it's the spices that truly stand out. The punch of white pepper makes Gritsch Gruner Veltliner Federspiel Kirchpoint a delicious accompaniment to spicy Asian dishes.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0594/9358/0879/files/gritsch-gruner-veltliner-federspiel-kirchpoint_13490.webp?v=1771589043
